Green and Food Waste Cart
You can now recycle yard and food waste in one cart! Your green and food waste cart should be your first option for disposal of yard waste. Please help divert compostable items from the landfill and place food scraps and yard waste in the new green waste cart (brown lid). These carts will be serviced every other week. Please refer to your collection calendar.
Acceptable Items in Yard Waste and Food Scraps Cart:
Yard Waste Street Pile Collection and Street Sweeping
Street pile collection and street sweeping is offered weekly from November through January and once a month at all other times. The service will occur on Mondays. Please do not leave yard waste piles on the street for more than seven days and never include food, branches longer than two feet and tree trunks larger than four inches in diameter. The City of Winters will enforce these regulations and could issue fines in the future.
Non-Acceptable Materials for Green Waste Street Piles:
- Branches longer than 5 feet in length, more than 6 inches in diameter or weighing more than 50 lbs.

Holiday Tree Recycling
Beginning December 26 and ending January 14, Waste Management will collect holiday trees free of charge. Trees must be stripped of all ornaments, garlands, tinsel, flocking, stands, and placed on the curb near your carts, on your regularly scheduled collection day. Trees not meeting these guide lines, (such as flocked trees) will not be picked up for recycling.
