Residential Waste Pickup Schedule Updates

WM and the City of Lodi are making changes to residential waste pickup to comply with SB 1383, a state mandate that requires all citizens to recycle and compost right. Your neighborhood might experience service week and day shifts, as we’re introducing weekly organics collection to ensure that more food scraps, food-soiled paper, and yard trimmings stay out of landfills.

SB 1383 Compliance: What To Expect In Lodi

California approved the Senate Bill 1383 requiring all jurisdictions to reduce the amount of methane-producing materials disposed of in state landfills. SB 1383 also mandates standardized curbside collections, requiring WM and the City of Lodi to change how we collect materials and what type of equipment we use.

New Minimum Cart Size & Rates

35-gallon carts as the new low-volume standard size. Residents currently subscribed to 20-gallon carts will receive a 35-gallon cart automatically in March. Rates will be gradually adjusted to reflect 35-gallon rates over three years until April 2026.

Overages & Contamination Monitoring

Lodi and WM are actively monitoring carts for contamination and overages. Carts will be automatically upsized after two or more warnings of overages or contamination.

New Carts & Increased Organics Service

Starting March 2024, all city carts will be green with different lid colors. You’ll receive a postcard with the expected delivery date. Additionally, your organics service collections will increase to weekly instead of every other week.
