Simi Valley Landfill

Located northwest of the city of Simi Valley, the Simi Valley Landfill & Recycling Center (SVLRC) is a fully permitted non-hazardous municipal solid waste landfill and recycling facility. For over 40 years, the SVLRC has been serving the needs of residents in Ventura County and the west San Fernando Valley. The SVLRC first opened in 1970. Waste Management acquired the facility in 1983.

The SVLRC provides approximately 60% of Ventura County's daily refuse disposal needs, and 75% of all tons accepted at the SVLRC originate in Ventura County. The SVLRC is permitted to accept up to 12,000 tons per day with weekly not to exceed 64,750 tons (no more than 8,000 tons per day of refuse or recyclable materials respectively, but cannot exceed 12,000 tons collectively) The SVLRC, on average, recycles approximately 25% of all tons accepted.

The landfill design and construction incorporates the latest advances in landfill technology including composite liners, leachate collection, and landfill gas recovery. The SVLRC conducts environmental monitoring activities to ensure protection of air quality, groundwater, surface water, and the public health.

	Landfill Tour Environmental education is important to WM. The Simi Valley Landfill and Recycling Center offers group tours of 20 guests or more for an educational experience where conversations focus on recycling, sustainability, wildlife habitat programs, and how a modern landfill operates.
	Free Landfill Days Simi Valley Landfill and Recycling Center invites local residents to several free days offered throughout the year.
